The End of Manned Space Flight in the USA?

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) was formed in 1958 in response to the "Space Race" between the US and USSR. Each superpower believed that reaching space before the other would give them the upper hand and potentially superior weapons technology.

Over 50 years later, in the Summer of 2011, the US Space Shuttle Atlantis touched down at Cape Canaveral, Florida for the last time, officially ending 30 years of the US Space Shuttle Program.

Federal funding for the space program has been cut, and the USA no longer has the ability to send it's astronauts into space using it's own vehicles.

This website aims to share our findings on NASA and the US Space Program including what the future holds for manned space flight in the United States.
