Cartegena is an historic Navy port just south of the Mar Menor in a natural harbour on the Mediterranean. A bustling spanish city which hosts some excellent festivals. Many of the images on this site came festival celebrating the Roman and Carpathian wars with Hannibal and his elephants. The town has great architecture, and a number of archealogical sites and is undergoing some exceelent refurbishment.
Enough of that rubbish!, The sea front is well worth a visit, but best of all there is excellent shopping and really good prices as the town has not hit the dizzy heights of Barcelona in popularity.
This is a gem of a Spanish town which draws us back time and time again. (We even went there on a huge cruise ship in 2009)
